UPDATE: YPD track down armed robber…
YPD press statement:
Yarmouth Police Track Down and Arrest Armed Robber
On Sunday, December 28, 2014 at approximately 5:35PM members of the Yarmouth Police Department uniformed patrol force were dispatched to 845 Route 28 South Yarmouth, the Yarmouth Mini Mart, for a reported armed robbery by a suspect claiming to have a gun wearing a black scarf over part of his face.
Patrol Officer Richard Fichter, Jr. arrived at the scene and updated the description of the suspect via police radio reporting that he was last seen wearing a lime green jacket, approximately 5’7″ to 5’9″, with blue eyes.
Within a few minutes, Yarmouth Police Officers conducted an on-scene investigation that lead to the motor vehicle stop of a Town Taxi as it left a nearby home of 213 Cranberry Lane on Peregrine Lane. The male passenger, identified as Eric Bishop, was taken out of the cab.
As Patrol Officers Sean Geary and Nicholas Giammarco were talking with Bishop, Patrol Officers Connor Burnham and Kevin Antonovitch returned to the Yarmouth Mini Mart to meet with Yarmouth Police Detective Kent.
As the Officers were speaking with Detective Kent, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Justin Haire and K9 Patrol Officer Michael Kramer and his K-9 partner Kozmo advised they were on a strong track down Nantucket Avenue which ended up at the side door of 213 Cranberry Lane.
A subsequent show up identification confirmed Bishop as the armed robber and he was placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
Patrol Officers Haire and Kramer were standing by at 213 Cranberry Lane and made contact with Heather Alves at the residence. Alves was not involved in the armed robbery but was found to have an active warrant and she was also placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
During the booking process of Bishop he was found to have a stack
of $10 and $20 bills in his right front pocket and another wad of $20 bills in his front left pocket.
Members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit provided crime scene services. A search warrant was obtained by Yarmouth Police Detective Kent which was executed at 2:30AM and led to the recovery of evidence involved in the robbery.
Both Bishop and Alves are scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court this morning.
