CHATHAM BARS INN SITUATION ENDS PEACEFULLY: Distraught ‘manager on duty’ allegedly seen loading firearm… [HN VIDEO]
CHATHAM – Police did a good job handling a tense and potentially lethal situation early this morning.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at about 1:12 a.m., Chatham police officers began making their way toward the Chatham Bars Inn for a report of a distraught male who was allegedly seen loading a magazine into a firearm by his girlfriend via “FaceTime,” according to radio transmissions. The girlfriend was concerned her boyfriend may have been trying to harm himself. Responding officers were told the man was a manager at the Chatham Bars Inn, and that he was currently on duty.
As you will see, HN arrived on Shore Road in front of the inn right was a Chatham Rescue ambulance was preparing to transport the man to Cape Cod Hospital for some type of mental health emergency. There was extremely dense fog in the area, which likely did not help officers when they initially arrived on scene and began searching for the individual. A Chatham Police Sergeant initially requested a K-9 unit to help search… but moments later one of the officers announced he was with the man in front of the inn.
The potentially lethal situation ended peacefully and there were no reported injuries. The patient was transported to CCH and officers requested Chatham Bars Inn “head staff” to respond to the scene. There were no further details available at the time of this report. The following HN Video highlights police radio transmissions, along with footage of the scene…
