Cops Find Centerville Home “Completely Destroyed Inside” in Suspected Revenge Rampage

CENTERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS — Barnstable Police raced to 5 Hadrada Lane shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday after a string of calls about suspicious activity that witnesses described as possible fireworks or juveniles breaking into the home. One caller reported people moving around inside with flashlights. K9 units joined the response.
As officers approached the neighborhood, a K9 unit spotted a 2005 white Toyota Highlander packed with five kids leaving the area. The vehicle came back registered to an address in Marstons Mills. The same unit then spotted two males on foot—one carrying a backpack—and quickly stopped an older model white sedan that the pair may have just entered. A second unit arrived as backup.
Subjects known to the officers on the traffic stop told them there was an apparent party at 5 Hadrada Lane with some kind of commotion in the basement. Officers surrounding the house immediately decided to make entry.
The residence was empty. One of the first officers inside reported the home was “completely destroyed inside.” Investigators found water damage, tipped-over appliances including a washing machine, broken glass, and upended furniture in every room. The interior had been demolished. Outside, someone had flipped over a fire pit and draped toilet paper across the building’s facade. A burnt roll of toilet paper was found inside an oven, raising questions about whether the appliance had been left on or whether this was a possible arson attempt. Police described it as a breaking and entering involving a load of malicious destruction that appeared to be an act of revenge rather than simple vandalism.
The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit was immediately called in for photographs and evidence collection. A BOLO went out to surrounding departments to stop and hold the white Toyota Highlander.
Town records show 5 Hadrada Lane is co-owned by a pair of realty trusts, one based off-Cape. It is a second home with no recent history of police involvement. No nearby caretakers were available at the time of the crime. An off-Cape owner told dispatchers the property had been rented last year but that nobody should currently be living there or inside the residence. Arrangements were made to help secure the property.
The investigation remains very active and ongoing. Hyannis News is monitoring the situation and will update when arrests are made. [DEVELOPING]
