WATCH: Meet Alan Feltham, Candidate for Hyannis’s Precinct 13 Town...

Alan Feltham is a longtime Hyannis resident and candidate for the Barnstable Town Council seat representing Precinct 13 in the special election to fill the vacancy created by the passing of Council President Felicia Penn. The special election will be held this coming Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center, 141 Bassett Lane. The winner will complete the remainder of the term through November 2027.

A Hyannis resident since 1959, Feltham brings decades of professional and civic experience to the race. His career has included work as an engineer, project manager, and director of market research for a large machine-tool company, along with service as an adjunct faculty member in engineering and MBA programs at Anna Maria College. He has also run a small family business on the Cape.

He has a record of local public service. He served as Chairman of the Barnstable Economic Development Committee (BEDC) for two years and was involved with the committee for several years prior to that. More recently, he serves on the Hyannis Main Street Waterfront Historic District Commission. Mr. Feltham expresses a desire to give back to the community and help protect Hyannis’s rich history.

Feltham has described his motivation in straightforward terms: after a lifetime in Hyannis and prior service on town committees, he wants to contribute further to preserving the character and future of the community he has called home for more than six decades.

Hyannis News caught up with Mr. Feltham yesterday on the Hyannis Village Green. The following video provides a brief introduction to his background and highlights his bid to represent the people of Hyannis’s Precinct 13 as their new Town Councilor.
