Hyannis Firefighters Quickly Knock Down Blaze at Tap City Grille; No Injuries, Cause Undetermined [HN Photos]

HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS — Firefighters rushed to the Tap City Grille property at 586 Main Street shortly before 4 p.m. Friday after a building caught fire near the restaurant’s rear service entrance.
Smoke drifted into the restaurant, forcing an evacuation of workers and patrons. Sprinklers activated in the rear building as Hyannis Fire Department crews arrived and swiftly knocked down the flames. Firefighters then checked the full property and neighboring stores for any extension of the fire.
Barnstable police shut down Main Street at the Bassett Lane intersection while a department tower truck raised its ladder to the restaurant roof, blocking both westbound lanes. Main Street stayed closed to all traffic for about an hour as crews worked the scene. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to photograph the area.
Hyannis Fire Chief Peter Burke told Hyannis News that the official cause remains undetermined but does not appear suspicious. No restaurant workers, patrons, or firefighters were injured.
