Disoriented patient found sitting in middle of busy intersection…
HYANNIS – Police received several calls from good Samaritans who stopped to help a stricken man found sitting in the middle of traffic.
At about 7:15pm yesterday, police and rescue responded to the busy intersection at Main Street and Camp Street about two blocks from the Cape Cod Hospital.
A man who had just been released from receiving treatment at CCH suddenly found himself disoriented and confused sitting, and one point laying, in the roadway.

Patrolmen Cory Frederickson and Jeff Jackson immediately took over for several good Samaritans who braved the traffic to shield the helpless man. Frederickson and Jackson also positioned their patrol cars in such a way as to protect and alert motorists of the situation while they assessed the man’s condition. Visibility conditions were becoming more hazardous as dusk approached…
Minutes after talking with the man, officers were able to assist him safely out of the street.
The man appeared to be still wearing his hospital identification bracelet and Hyannis Rescue helped him back onto a stretcher to take him right back to CCH.
It’s a good thing people stopped to help this individual. Between dusk making way for darkness, and commuters rushing home, things could have turned out much worse. Say what you want about HyTown, but when someone’s in danger people come to help!
