HYANNIS – As the “tourist season” fast approaches, the Town of Barnstable is challenged with many problems that seemingly intensify as the weather becomes warmer. Some of the more obvious challenges are homelessness, drinking and doing drugs in public, fighting, gun-play and threats, stabbings, robberies, thefts, open and gross lewdness, unruly tourists, disorderly locals, offensive language, general unrest, etc… Tourist don’t want to see and experience these things, and neither do the people who live here year round.

It’s a huge challenge to keep the Main Street area “family friendly,” to say the least…
