DRIVE-THRU DRAMA: McDonald’s Manager McArrested for McKnife… [plus other news briefs…]
HYANNIS – The manager of the local McDonald’s probably is not McLovin’ life tonight…
At about 12:30am, multiple Barnstable Police squad cars rushed to the McDonald’s on North Street after restaurant staff reported a man waiving a knife around and acting crazy…
Multiple patrol officers were on scene within moments and began to investigate…
Police learned the suspect had left the area and may not have been waiving a knife around after all…
Reportedly McDonald’s staff encountered a man who had been acting aggressively while passing through their drive-thru area…
Staff confronted the man when he reportedly began to mess around with a chained bicycle next to the store. Words were exchanged, threats allegedly made… but according to sources, no knife had been shown…
In a strange twist, police began speaking with the manager of the McDonald’s and discovered he was in possession of an illegal spring-loaded knife…
Police wound up placing the McDonald’s manager under arrest for possession of a dangerous weapon…
Hyannis News spoke with McDonald’s employees who also confirmed their store manager had just been arrested and they were stuck without an authorized person to finalize the store’s closing…

The remaining restaurant employees were upset because they couldn’t leave the store unattended until an official McDonald’s manager arrived to close up shop. According to employees, they feared they could be waiting another four hours or more until another manager arrived at 5:00am.
Dave Nunez, age 22, manager of the North Street McDonald’s, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon for the illegal spring-loaded knife…
Caution: switchblades and spring-assisted knives are strictly illegal in Massachusetts and are considered a felony to merely possess…

HYANNIS – At about 12:50am, several police cruisers responded to 149 Sea Street for a report of young woman breaking things and threatening to light the house on fire…
Officers arrived quickly and placed the woman in custody…

Officers on scene also called for a crime scene photographer and a supervisor…
Elizabeth Ables, age 34, was arrested and charged with Attempt to Burn Property after she began to ignite some magazines inside the house while making threats she was going to light the house on fire. She was also charged with Injury to Real or Personal Property for the other things she had broken…
Also of note: Barnstable officers also responded to an address on Seabrook Road the night before for a report of female trying to kick someone’s door in. Police arrived and detained Elizabeth Ables, soon learning that some tires had been slashed on a car parked nearby. Police also charged Ables with Injury to Real and Personal Property last night for allegedly slashing the tires…
In other news:
CENTERVILLE – An Aqua Patio Pontoon boat flipped onto its side and ran aground near the intersection of Route 28 and Phinney’s Lane at about 3:00pm yesterday…
Traffic was slowed in the area for about an hour and a half until the pontoon boat was tipped right side up…

At about midnight last night, Hyannis News rolled up on police checking on the well being of a disheveled young man in the area of West Main Street and Straightway.
Officers found the wandering soul congenial enough, but were concerned about his state of mind and well being…
The man was apparently disoriented and did not know where he was…
The man has been meandering the local streets for the last couple days… not bothering anybody… but causing people to worry about his well being…
Hyannis Rescue responded and took him over to CCH for help…
