WEST BARNSTABLE – One witness reportedly had never seen “anyone drive as crazy as this man.”
The male driving the above vehicle was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic, into the breakdown lane, speeding, cutting off other motorists… and even went as far as driving onto the grassy shoulder in his attempts to pass other motorists.
The man’s erratic driving was first witnessed in the area of Exit 2 and continued until he eventually crashed just prior to Exit 5.
According to Massachusetts State Police, just after 11am, troopers responded to the Route 6 eastbound lane just prior to Exit 5 for a rollover accident with one person injured…
West Barnstable Fire Department fire and rescue units also responded…
According to West Barnstable Fire Chief Joseph Maruca, the vehicle landed on its roof in the highway’s median and they finally located the injured driver on the nearby Service Road, located across two lanes of traffic and through a wooded area…
It’s still uncertain as to why the driver left his vehicle…
The driver was transported to CCH with non-life-threatening injuries…
Route 6 eastbound traffic was backed up and occasionally needed to be shut down entirely to facilitate emergency workers and their vehicles.
The vehicle was hoisted out of the median by a Buckler’s Towing crane before being hauled away from the scene…
The cause of the erratic driving and crash remains under investigation by the local detachment of the Massachusetts State Police…
