DRIVER ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING AFTER LEAVING CRASH SCENE… [HN PHOTOS]



HYANNIS – Sergeant Brian Jones of the Barnstable Police Department located a GMC pickup truck suspected of just being involved in a hit-and-run crash early this morning.
Shortly after midnight, Barnstable patrol officers responded to the intersection of South Street and Old Colony Road, where they found a SUV up on the sidewalk, after it had just been struck and spun around by a pickup truck. The pickup truck is said to have continued driving south after the impact.
An ambulance from the Hyannis Fire Department responded to evaluate the driver of the SUV, who was reportedly not seriously injured.
Sergeant Jones located a GMC pickup truck moments later in the area of 500 Ocean Street. Patrolwoman Denise Baldner responded to 500 Ocean Street and gave the driver field sobriety testing instructions in Portuguese.
The adult male driver was subsequently arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and leaving the crash scene. He may also be charged with Negligent Operation according to sources on scene.
