SOUTH YARMOUTH – A driver reportedly swerved to avoid striking some sort of creature suddenly darting across the roadway earlier this evening; he missed the unidentified creature, but instead wound up clipping a major triple transformer bearing utility pole…
… and completely sheered off the passenger-side front tire along with its hub assembly.
The driver was evaluated by rescue and further treatment was eventually refused at the scene.
After the tow, police needed to remain on scene waiting for an Eversource crew to arrive and make repairs…
The YPD is investigating the crash.

According to the Falmouth Police, Rt. 151 between Sandwich Rd. and Boxberry Hill Rd. needed to be closed when a vehicle rolled over after crashing into a utility pole last evening. Ranch Rd. was also closed. Eversource responded to make repairs. There were no serious injuries. [FPD image]
