NEW DETAILS – FALMOUTH MAN ARRESTED: Woman “accidentally” shot in chest at Falmouth apartment… [HN VIDEO]
UPDATE – 2/25/22 – FPD MEDIA STATEMENT: February 24, 2022, at 10:40 pm, The Falmouth Police and Falmouth Fire Rescue Department were dispatched to 33 Shore St for what was initially reported as an accidental discharge of a firearm and that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and found a male and a female inside of the residence. The female victim, 54 years old from Middleboro MA was found to be the victim of a gunshot wound to her chest. She was treated at the scene by rescue personnel and then Med Flighted to a Boston area hospital with reported serious but non-life threatening injuries. The male party, identified as William Niemeyer, 58 years old of Falmouth was arrested at the scene and charged with Discharging a Firearm within 500 ft of a dwelling, Possessing a Large Capacity Firearm, and Carrying a loaded firearm without a license. This incident is under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department Detective Division and the Barnstable County Sheriffs Officer Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
FALMOUTH – Police and EMS rushed to 33 Shore Street last evening for a report of a woman suffering an “accidental” gunshot to the chest, according to emergency radio transmissions.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, at around 10:41 p.m. Thursday evening, Falmouth Police Officers secured the scene at an apartment unit on the back, upstairs part of the building. Falmouth FD EMTs began treating the patient, described as a 54-year-old woman suffering a “through and through” gunshot wound to her chest. Medflight was immediately called to a landing zone at Falmouth Hospital. The woman was described as being alert prior to being airlifted to an off-Cape trauma center.
Back at the scene, an on-call Falmouth Police Detective was requested to respond. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit was also called to the scene, according to radio transmissions.
As you will hear, investigators spoke with a male at the scene. The male was eventually transported to Falmouth Police Headquarters as the investigation unfolded, according to radio transmissions.
At the time of this report, it’s uncertain as to whether the apartment was being treated as a crime scene or whether anyone was arrested. The condition of the Female patient was also uncertain at the time of this report. The HN photos in the following HN Video were taken two hours after the initial call, one photo shows a Falmouth Police cruiser still on scene to the rear of the apartment building.
