YARMOUTH – Police and rescue rushed to save a father who had just overdosed with his young son nearby.
At about 6:45pm, first responders attended to an overdose patient who was said to be not breathing and unresponsive. The patient was considered a “priority one” case due the severity of the overdose. The drug was said to have been heroin…
The OD patient was eventually awakened and placed in the back of an ambulance. He was said to have been uncooperative with police and rescue workers, and could be heard yelling and hollering from blocks away.
The patient was transported to CCH…
A young boy, early elementary age, was carried from the residence to an awaiting car. The child was upset and the adult carrying the child attempted to console him by explaining that his father would be receiving the help he needs…
Back at CCH, a Barnstable patrolman assisted Yarmouth police and rescue workers with the patient, who was now being described as “combative.”
At about 10:15pm, Barnstable patrolmen needed to return to CCH to stand by as DCF workers gave notification that the state would be taking custody of the boy. Due to the patient’s combative state, 2 officers and a sergeant stood by…
In other news:

Yarmouth police and rescue responded to a second overdose just minutes after they had left the scene of the above overdose.
This time the overdose was due to prescription pills and alcohol. A middle-age woman was removed from the residence on a stretcher and was treated in the back of an ambulance before being transported to CCH. She was conscious and breathing…
A young man, approximately in his mid-twenties was outside in the street on his bicycle watching the scene. He told HN he was a recovering junkie with about two years “clean.” He also commented on the epidemic being out of control…
HN Note: Overdoses continue to happen on a regular basis in the Yarmouth and Greater Hyannis area throughout each and every day.
The following photo shows the scene right after police and firefighters revived a heroin overdose patient in West Yarmouth on Friday evening.
Narcan was used to save the young man’s life.

The epidemic rages on.
