ALERT: Police looking for hit-and-run driver after 15-year-old found with two possible compound leg fractures…
HARWICH PORT – First responders on scene described the boy’s injuries as being two compound leg fractures. A responding ambulance was notified of the possible two open leg fractures. The ambulance was also notified Medflight was not flying due to weather.
At around 1:15 a.m. Monday morning – 7/5/2021 – the Harwich Police Department began investigating a serious hit-and-run car vs. pedestrian crash. According to a HPD media statement, a 15-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk when he was struck by a dark colored truck traveling on Lower County Road, in the area of Brooks Road.
The young male victim sustained serious injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening at this time. As you will see in the following HN Video, the teen was being transported to Cape Cod Hospital as HN was arriving in the area. The 15-year-old was eventually transported to a Boston area hospital.
According to police, the suspect vehicle was described as a dark colored pickup truck, possibly a Ford F-150. The truck was said to be driving with no lights on, traveling eastbound towards Harwich Port. There may be possible damage to the front passenger-side, including the passenger-side tire rim.
