Hit and run with personal injury…
Osterville – Barnstable Police are looking for the driver of a Jeep Wrangler who took off after rear-ending a vehicle on Route 28. The woman operating the vehicle that was struck was sent to Cape Cod Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. (Cape Wide News is reporting that two people were actually taken to CCH for evaluation… that has not been officially confirmed yet…)
The Jeep Wrangler was last seen fleeing towards Mashpee along Route 28. The Jeep was said to have oversized tires and a black top. It should also have front end damage.

The collision slowed traffic in both directions…

The accident is under investigation by Patrolman Steve Everett.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the hit and run driver is urged to contact the Barnstable Police at 508-775-0387.
In other news:

Hyannis – Yesterday, a fire inside the wall of a West Main Street apartment complex caused residents to evacuate the building.

There was a lot of smoke and the fire reached some of the cabinets in the kitchen area when firefighters first arrived at 329 West Main Street.
The fire was said to be caused by an electrical problem.
Firefighters and police were on scene for over an hour while the source of the fire was being tracked down and smoke was being ventilated from the building…
There were no injuries reported.
In other news:
Hyannis – Two men in their twenties were detained yesterday when they offered the sale of stereo equipment to plainclothes police officers in front of Panera Bread.

A record check revealed one of the men had a questionable history…
A search of their vehicle did not turn up anything worth charging them with at this time…
The young men were warned and released from the scene.
