INITIAL HN REPORT:
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – Barnstable Police patrol officers began investigating the mysterious disappearance of a young adult woman last evening.
Police received a call from the woman’s boyfriend who said that at 4:30 p.m., yesterday afternoon, arrangements were made for her to pick him at work at around 9:30 p.m..
According radio transmissions, she reportedly told her boyfriend she was at DJ’s Wings on Yarmouth Road when they last spoke at 4:30 p.m.. She never showed up when it was time to pick him up at work. So the boyfriend then reportedly walked over to DJ’s and used some type for phone finder app in an effort to locate her. He allegedly told police he found her car still parked at DJ’s with her cellphone inside. The car was reportedly locked.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, at some point when speaking with the boyfriend, police officers took him into protective custody for intoxication. Police had additional questions for the boyfriend but felt it better to wait until he was in a more sober condition.
Shortly before midnight, the police sergeant in charge radioed he needed himself and four patrolmen to stay on working the case into the next shift, from midnight to 8:00 a.m.. The sergeant also requested help from the detective division and at least three Barnstable Police Detectives responded and began working the case into the early morning hours. A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit also responded to assist with photos.
Investigators eventually towed the missing woman’s car, a gray Hyundai Elantra, back to police headquarters for the possibility of additional processing.
As you will see in the following HN Video, investigators also began to focus on a hotel room on Ocean Street. At the time of this report – 7:30 a.m. – police officers are still parked outside that hotel room.
This is an active investigation and developing story. Police have not yet officially released the missing woman’s name. HN has been in contact with investigators and will publish the woman’s name when it’s officially released. Police appear concerned about certain circumstances surrounding this particular missing person case, while remaining hopeful there’s a perfectly logical explanation as to her whereabouts.
