HYANNIS – Barnstable police officers and Hyannis firefighters were dispatched to the parking lot near the Hyline ferry terminal at around 5:54 a.m. this morning for a priority one unresponsive male patient who had been inside a vehicle. CPR was in progress as first responders rushed toward the scene…
According to Sgt. Brian Jones of the BPD, despite the best efforts of first responders, the middle-aged patient did not survive. The investigation took place throughout the morning commute, with investigators clearing the scene just prior to 9:00 a.m..
It appears to be a “medical” event at this point and Barnstable and State Police detectives were called to the scene more as a matter of standard procedure. At this point, there is nothing to indicate the death was suspicious. The investigation is ongoing and barring any unexpected developments, no further details will be released at this time.

The first small fire happened inside Colombo’s Cafe & Pastries. Upon arrival, firefighters found a smoke condition inside the restaurant. The fire was quickly dealt with and windows were opened to ventilate the establishment. There was a cleaning crew on scene with no patrons inside. Barnstable Police closed off Main Street as firefighters worked the scene…

The second small fire happened inside an apartment at 319 Main Street, the old Cape Cod Times building, which has been converted into residential units. It was reportedly a plastic cutting board that had been put out prior to firefighters arriving on scene. Windows were opened and the residence was ventilated.
