HN PHOTOS: Woman arrested for drunk driving after ramming into another vehicle…
HYANNIS – A Barnstable Police Sergeant reportedly had to spin around and try to catch up to a vehicle he estimated to be speeding early this morning.
It was around 3:30 a.m. when the sergeant reportedly noticed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 28 from Centerville toward Hyannis. The vehicle’s top speed was said to be approximately 80 mph.
As the vehicle crossed over into Hyannis, it was said to have been slowed down by behind another vehicle traveling at a more reasonable and proper speed. And it was a good thing it slowed down before apparently rear-ending the other car at Route 28 and Pitchers Way.
The young male driver of the car that was struck was not seriously injured but was transported to Cape Cod Hospital after complaining of neck pain.
The young female driver of the alleged speeding vehicle was out walking around without shoes shortly after the crash. She then put on sneakers prior to attempting field sobriety testing. After attempting several tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating to Endanger, Speeding, and Marked Lanes Violation.
A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to take photos of the crash.
Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.
