HN PHOTO: “With temps about to plummet…”
HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – With temperatures about to plummet – forecast to dip from today’s wet, mid-forties down into the mid-teens throughout the overnight – advocates for the homeless are ramping up efforts to help those stranded on the streets.
In the above HN Photo, firefighters responded to Winter Street to assist a middle-aged man who was poorly protected from the elements, sitting alone on the wet ground during a blustery, steady rain. He was wearing a cheap blue plastic bag fashioned into a makeshift rain poncho. And he was soaking wet.
He was also in need of medical attention.
And as the story goes, the man reportedly refused help at first, telling firefighters and police he was all set. And with all things considered, especially the anticipated dangerous drop in temperature, all on scene did their utmost to persuade the gentleman to reconsider. And as you can see in the above HN photo, it appears their efforts were successful…
