“HyArts” for graffiti aficionados…

ABOVE: Late Sunday afternoon (8/2/26) on the Hyannis Village Green, Barnstable Police and a Hyannis Fire Department ambulance crew rolled up for the latest installment of downtown violence: a woman claiming she’d just been beaten and choked. Lightheaded but still awake, she declined further medical care. Officers then wandered onto the green in search of the other half of the drama, only to hear witnesses insist the alleged victim had started the fight herself. Conflicting stories, no clear resolution — case remains under investigation, of course.

And just like that, peace returned. Nappers resumed their naps. Graffiti aficionados got back to admiring the local “art.” Visiting families received a complimentary, front-row lesson in authentic Hyannis culture. Another day, another public scuffle, another shrug. Business as usual on the Village Green.
