Man attempts to outrun cops by having friends help hoist motorcycle into basement… [Video]
Hyannis – Just after 7:15pm, several Barnstable Police squad cars converged on a neighborhood searching for a red motorcycle and driver who had just attempted to outrun police..
Lieutenant Michael Clark was observing traffic in the area of Route 28 when he observed the motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. Lieutenant Clark told Hyannis News he activated his blue lights in an attempt to stop the driver for speeding. He radioed for backup when the driver failed to stop and took off down Walton Ave through a thickly settled family neighborhood onto Bearses Way. Clark lost sight of the motorcycle in the area of Bearses way…
Clark had his officers saturate and search the neighborhood in the vicinity of Franklin Ave.
In a stroke of good luck and attentive police work, Detective Kevin Connolly entered the back yard of number 54 Kelley Road where he observed 4 men attempting to hoist a red motorcycle through a bulkhead door and down into a basement…
It was dark outside but Connolly knew he was onto something.
Another officer and Lieutenant Clark quickly joined Connolly in the back yard of number 54 Kelley Road…
According to Clark, the driver of the motorcycle was still wearing the same clothing which included a distinctive jacket design…
Rodaine Powell, 24, of Centerville was arrested and transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking…
Clark says he’ll be charged with Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Operating to Endanger, and Speeding…
