MARSTONS MILLS – A 35-year-old Marstons Mills man was arrested after leaving a single vehicle crash scene on Santuit-Newtown Road last evening. At around 9:00 p.m., Barnstable Police responded to 855 Santuit-Newtown Road for a reports of a crash. Upon arrival officers learned it was a single vehicle crash and that the driver left the scene in a heavily damaged Honda Pilot SUV. While searching the area, officers were tipped off about a seemingly intoxicated man on Highpoint Road. Officers responded and encountered the alleged driver, apparently intoxicated on drugs. The driver’s vehicle had heavy front end damage, including a fence post rammed through its grill, then through the engine compartment, and finally into the driver’s compartment.
The driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation, and was eventually discharged into police custody. According to sources on scene, the driver was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, along with leaving the scene. Also, according to sources, the driver has been arrested for Operating Under the Influence at least one time prior….
