HN PHOTOS: 17-year-old not injured after taking out utility pole in Marstons Mills…

MARSTONS MILLS – Shortly before midnight last evening, Barnstable Police and COMM Firefighters responded to Santuit-Newtown Road near the intersection with Olde Homestead Drive after a single vehicle left the roadway and smashed into a utility pole. The utility pole was snapped, bringing down power lines. Traffic on Santuit-Newtown Road needed to be completely closed down for a period of time. An Eversource lineman cut power to the downed wires. The driver, a 17-year-old male, was not injured and eventually picked up from the scene by a parent. There were no criminal charges issued but the Barnstable Police Department is still investigating the cause of the crash. The driver was operating on a JOL (Junior Operator License). A Sheriff’s crash scene photographer was requested to the scene…
Power is expected to be restored to local residences by 7:15 a.m., according to an Eversource outage map.
