LATEST: OFFICIALS IDENTIFY 19-YEAR-OLD KILLED IN MARSTONS MILLS CRASH [HN VIDEO]

UPDATE – 4:45pm – 2/26/22 – BPD MEDIA STATEMENT:
On Friday, February 25th at approximately 8:30pm, passersby reported a single motor vehicle crash on Race Lane in Marstons Mills.
Personnel from the Barnstable Police Department and the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department arrived on scene to find that a white work van had left the roadway and collided with a tree.
The male operator, and lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by COMM FD, who utilized specialized equipment to extricate his body.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner received the body and was able to identify the operator as Marllon Faria, 19 years old, from Hyannis.
The BPD Accident Reconstruction Unit processed the scene and is conducting the investigation, which at this early stage appears to be weather related, but is still on-going.
The Barnstable Police Department sends their condolences to Marllon’s family and friends. Please contact us if there is anything we can do to assist you during this difficult time.

UPDATE – 9:30am – 2/26/22: The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a COMM FD media statement, the patient was “non-viable and was not transported to a medical facility.” The patient was eventually removed from the wreckage using “hydraulic extrication equipment.” Check back for additional details as they officially become available.

MARSTONS MILLS – Roads were extremely icy and hazardous as police and firefighters responded to a single vehicle crash into a tree on Race Lane last evening. The crash happened near the intersection with Osterville/West Barnstable Road. Race lane was completely closed down as officials worked the scene. A Barnstable Police accident reconstruction expert responded to investigate.
