*** UPDATE *** A CLOSER LOOK AT LAST EVENING’S STABBING WITH INTENT TO MURDER SUSPECT:
According to a Mashpee Police Department media statement, Andrew J. Mrozinski, age 33, of Mashpee will subsequently be charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, A&B with a Dangerous Weapon, Mayhem, and Resisting Arrest.
Additional charges may be forthcoming. Mrozinski was scheduled to be transported to Falmouth District Court earlier this afternoon for his arraignment.
According to the MPD statement: “On December 12, 2019 at approximately 2:33 A.M., the Mashpee Police Department responded to the Sea Oaks Condominiums located at 195 Falmouth Road, after receiving multiple reports of a possible stabbing at that location. Responding officers were confronted with a combative male suspect who immediately charged at them upon their arrival. After a violent struggle the suspect was taken into custody and transported to Falmouth Hospital for a medical evaluation, released and remains in our custody. Further investigation at the scene revealed a 70 year old female stabbing victim who was transported by med-flight to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with what appeared to be life threatening injuries. We are currently awaiting an update on her status. A second victim, a 35 year old male, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of what appeared to be an Assault and Battery. This is an active and ongoing investigation and we will be in consultation with the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office for specific criminal charges which will be forthcoming [see above]. The Mashpee Police Department was assisted by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and the Mashpee Fire Rescue Department. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.”
