SOUTH YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS — Shortly after midnight Wednesday, Yarmouth Police sent a patrolman to a Great Western Road address after a resident in the middle of a move reported that a three-man crew from a New Jersey moving company had driven off with some of the resident’s furniture.

Shortly before midnight, the resident reportedly gave the New Jersey company a cash deposit. Its three-man crew began loading some of the resident’s furniture into a 40-foot truck. The move then took a sudden turn when the truck and crew left with furniture still onboard. The resident called the company repeatedly and was “ghosted”—no answer and no callback.

The first officer on scene began investigating. A YPD supervisor later arrived. Police issued a BOLO for the 40-foot truck to surrounding towns and State Police.

Hyannis News left the Great Western Road scene to cover another call off-Cape and later confirmed with a source that the possible-theft investigation continued through the rest of the night. Early Wednesday evening, a YPD official said the case remained open and had been turned over to the department’s detective division.

An online search found several companies using similar or identical names to the one heard on early-morning police radio. One firm with a matching name carried “critical consumer alerts” and red flags. Hyannis News has not officially confirmed the company involved and has contacted the YPD information officer for updates. The company’s name and any further developments will be posted here when confirmed.
