At around 1:48 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police squad cars began heading toward West Main Street for a report of vehicle traveling to Cape Cod Hospital with a stabbing victim. Moments later, responding officers received a report of a rollover crash into the Cumberland Farms sign on West Main Street. At the same time, BPD dispatchers received reports there had been a stabbing victim on the back deck of an address on Seth Goodspeed Way, in Osterville.
According to radio transmissions, an officer reported a stabbing victim at the West Main Street rollover crash scene (believed to be related to the ongoing crime scene in Osterville). At the crash scene, there was reportedly at least two patients, with at least one described as being unconscious and entrapped. A Medflight helicopter was requested to the airport in Hyannis while ambulances transported at least two patients to Cape Cod Hospital. It’s uncertain whether any of the patients were actually Medflighted after all, and the condition of both patients is unknown at the time of this report.

UPDATE – According to a BPD media statement released hours after the crash, January 15, 2022, officers had responded to a rollover crash on West Main Street, Hyannis near the intersection with Sumi Road. Two individuals were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that turned out to be “non-life threatening.” One of the patients had suffered stab wounds to his abdomen during an altercation at a residence in Osterville. The stabbing victim, a 23-year-old male from Harwich, was being brought to Cape Cod Hospital by friends when their vehicle rolled over. The investigation into the stabbing remains active and ongoing, anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Katie Parache at 508-778-3820.
