Juvenile struck by vehicle in Yarmouth…
The following is the actual press prepared by Yarmouth Police Department Deputy Chief of Police Steven G. Xiarhos:
On Thursday, April 30, 2015 at approximately 10:23PM members of the Yarmouth Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting an argument in a home on Angus Avenue in South Yarmouth. While responding to the home, the caller reported that her daughter had run from the home and had just been struck by a vehicle on Route 28 near the Angus Road intersection.
Yarmouth Police Department patrol officers arrived at the scene and found a juvenile female in the westbound lane of the roadway suffering from serious injuries. Yarmouth Police provided first aid and members of the Yarmouth Fire Department arrived and administered advanced emergency medical services and transported the young girl by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital.
The initial investigation revealed that an argument had occurred in the home and the young girl ran into Route 28 dressed in dark clothing and was struck by a westbound 2006 Honda Accord. The operator of the vehicle initially did not see the girl and attempted to stop but was unable to do so before striking her.
The driver remained at the scene and no charges are expected to be filed.
The young girl was treated at Cape Cod Hospital and subsequently transported overnight by ambulance to Boston Children’s Hospital where she is currently being treated for back and leg injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
