PEDESTRIAN STRUCK: Young man clipped prior to smashing into windshield… taken to CCH… [Video]
HYANNIS – A resident called and told police a kid had just been hit by a car…
Police and rescue rushed to 250 Sea Street earlier this evening for a pedestrian struck while crossing the street.
The pedestrian wasn’t a “kid,” but rather a 28-year-old man…
The young man suffered cuts and what appeared to be a possible broken leg. He was alert and able to speak with rescue workers.
An unofficial source, reports hearing the young pedestrian telling police the accident was his fault… that he was wearing headphones and didn’t hear the car before suddenly stepping into the roadway to cross…
According to statements, the driver reportedly did not have time to react… his front bumper clipped the man before he smashed into his windshield…
Barnstable Police obtained a statement from the driver who remained on scene until photos could be taken of his damaged vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, but initial indications reveal investigators are not considering the driver to be at fault…
