Police received calls about man acting strangely during Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Church… [Plus Special HyTown Vignette Video…]
HYANNIS – Police responded the St.FX church on South street tonight after receiving at least two phone calls about a man behaving strangely.
The well attended 7pm Mass at St.FX church is tailored for the Brazilian committee. It’s a service attended by Hyannis residents of all ages, especially younger families with children.
People from another Mass on Saturday reported the same individual behaving oddly by standing up near the front of the parish and looking around in a strange manner… at a time during the service when everyone is seated.
Officers asked the man to step outside and spent some time talking with him. A parish priest eventually met with him and asked him to go home for the time being.
The priest did not find it necessary to “tresspass” him from church. But did find it necessary to have him return home for the evening.
Despite appearing troubled, the man did shake hands with the priest and cooperated with his request by leaving the church peacefully and without incident.
