Firefighters handle fuel spill that caught fire inside Shawme Crowell State Forest… [HN VIDEO]
SANDWICH, MA – State police and Sandwich firefighters responded to a fuel spill that at one point caught fire inside the Shawme Crowel State Forest campground, around 3:00 a.m. this morning.
According to officials on scene, firefighters had already dealt with the gas leak earlier, when a motor home’s fuel tank sprung a leak and spilled its contents out onto a campground access road. But later on, a small area of the spill had somehow caught fire. The small fire was quickly extinguished.
Speedy dry had been applied to soak up the spill. The D.E.P. is expected to come and investigate.
The Buckler’s Towing service sent one of its large wreckers, along with a service truck. They reportedly patched the motor home’s tank and removed it from the forest….
