Car crash into historic Mill Creek in Sandwich… [HN VIDEO]
SANDWICH – A woman crashed her car into Mill Creek in front of Sandwich Town Hall last evening around 10:00 p.m.. According to radio transmissions she needed assistance getting out of her car that was now partially submerged in the creek. She was quickly extricated and transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation.
The crash happened on Main Street in front of Town Hall and near to the First Church. According to Wikipedia, the First Church ‘is a congregational church in Sandwich, founded in 1638 under the Plymouth Colony Charter and the Mayflower Compact.” (First Church’s current facility was established in 1848 according to Wikipedia) Also, across the street, just upstream from the crash, is a spring where many locals still get their drinking water.
It took two tow trucks to carefully hoist the vehicle from the creek. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Sandwich Police Department.
