Some said this would never happen here…
Hyannis – [HN NOTES, RAMBLINGS & WEIRD SPECULATION] One doesn’t have to look very far to realize something unusual is going on…
Sporadic rumblings overhead…
Spooked family pets hiding under furniture…
Creepy weather… bizarre out-of-season flu-like symptoms, chills, headaches, and other sensations… Mere allergy headaches? Global warming? Climate Change? Shear coincidence? Or something more sinister?
The ominous full moon…
The sudden appearance of numerous black helicopters mysteriously watching over HyTown… both day and night!
What does it all mean?
Historically, black helicopters have been associated with conspiracy theories dating back to the 1970s, and possibly earlier…
The following photos were taken today, 5/14/14, and sent in by Bunni Jones
In the 1990s, various United States militia and fringe political groups believed black helicopters were a warning sign of an impending conspiratorial military take over of the country…
…or…
…from the onset of modern UFO sightings, along with conspiracy theories surrounding a possible government coverup regarding their validity, black helicopters have also been associated with the infamous Men In Black or “MIBs”… Men dressed in black suits who relentlessly harassed and intimidated UFO witnesses…
In other circles, rumors arose regarding an anti-American contingent of personnel from the United Nations patrolling the US in unmarked black helicopters, closely monitoring such things as our recycling habits and citizen gun ownership from above…
As early as the 1970s, black helicopters have also been referenced in reports of cattle mutilation… an unexplained phenomenon which has been linked to the possibility of malicious extraterrestrials with unfathomable motives…
In short, the sighting of unexplained black helicopters may or may not be cause for alarm… (but to err on the side of caution… RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!)

Yet many others have a more “mainstream” explanation for the recent sightings….
According to a recent NSTAR press release, and other sources, NSTAR may have started their Cape Cod Helicopter Inspections earlier than expected…
The following is an actual NSTAR press release:
NSTAR to Begin Helicopter Inspections of Transmission Lines
BOSTON (April 28, 2014) To help ensure the reliability of the region’s transmission system, tomorrow, NSTAR will begin its annual comprehensive visual inspections of electrical equipment on local rights-of-way. This work involves the use of a helicopter equipped with a high-resolution camera to hover over certain equipment, in some cases, for up to five minutes. Weather-permitting, the inspections should be completed early this summer.
“Over a million customers in the Bay State depend on NSTAR for reliable electric service to power their day-to-day lives,” said Craig Hallstrom, President of NSTAR Electric. “Our yearly helicopter inspections of the transmission lines in Eastern Massachusetts are an important and effective part of our commitment to reducing the frequency and duration of power outages.”
Current plans call for NSTAR’s comprehensive visual inspections to begin in the MetroWest area on Tuesday, April 29th and then continuing on to the South Shore. The northern part of the transmission system will be next, in the Burlington and Woburn area, with the inspections scheduled to be completed on Cape Cod in June. Weather permitting, inspections are carried out seven days per week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The region’s transmission system is the backbone of the electric grid. Overhead inspections of transmission lines and equipment – often located upwards of 100 feet in the air – help engineers detect potential problems in advance, allowing the company to schedule necessary maintenance and upgrades before reliability issues arise. In a related effort, NSTAR earlier this month completed separate overhead transmission inspections across its service area using heat-sensing infrared scanning equipment.
[NSTAR, a Northeast Utilities company (NYSE: NU), transmits and delivers electricity and natural gas to 1.4 million customers in Eastern and Central Massachusetts, including more than one million electric customers in 81 communities and 300,000 gas customers in 51 communities.
