Upon investigation, officers learned two suspects had entered the store together.
According to a Barnstable Police Press Statement, Cody Martin went to the counter and pulled out a pistol.
The second suspect, later identified as Lamar Pringle, went to a different area of the store.
Martin allegedly then pointed the pistol at an employee, firing a single round from the pistol and demanding money.
The store employee, who was not struck by the gunfire, handed cash over to Martin.
Both suspects then ran from the scene.
Upon viewing the store video surveillance, Barnstable Police Officers were quickly able to identify the suspect with the pistol as 19-year-old Cody Martin, a man currently living on the streets of Hyannis.
The next day, Sunday 10/30/2016, Barnstable Patrolmen Frederickson and Heise spotted Cody Martin walking on Main Street with Lamar Pringle, as well as a local juvenile.
Pringle was quickly identified as the second suspect depicted in the Willow Tree Market robbery video.
The juvenile was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol.
All three suspects were arrested and transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters.
Martin and Pringle were arraigned in Barnstable District Court this morning, 10/31/16, and are being held without bail at the Barnstable House of Correction pending a Dangerous Hearing later this week.
The juvenile was arraigned for Illegally Possessing a Firearm (Juvenile Court) and was placed in DCF custody.
Martin and Pringle were charged as follows:
Cody Martin, age 19, homeless…
1) Armed Robbery
2) Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon/Firearm
3) Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
4) Larceny in a building
5) Attempt to Commit A&B by Discharging a Firearm
5) 3 Default Warrants from Barnstable Court
Lamar Pringle, age 19, of Hyannis
1) Armed Robbery
Note: The initial HN report had it that the gun may had been a ‘cap gun’ of some sort… and that’s what everyone thought… but when the video is slowed down, you can reportedly see a flame shooting out the barrel of the gun after it was fired… and a hole was found behind the cash register.
The suspects are said to have gotten away with about $800 in cash…
