Three arrested on drug charges outside mall… one was wearing a monitoring bracelet from Salem…
HYANNIS – Yesterday afternoon, members of the Barnstable Street Crime Unit (SCU) were conducting surveillance in the Cape Cod Mall parking lot.
SCU officers tend to focus on busy parking areas, especially during the Christmas shopping season.
At approximately 4:30pm, Barnstable Officer Matt Blondin and Mashpee Officer Ryan Nardone observed a suspicious motor vehicle parked near the Men’s Wearhouse on the Corporation Street side of mall.
The vehicle was occupied by three adult males who appeared to be involved in the use of narcotics.
“Plainclothes Officers” Blondin and Nardon approached the vehicle on foot and observed what appeared to be one of the passengers attempting to “snort” cocaine.
The vehicle’s driver, Kiranbir Singh, age 25, of Centerville, had drug paraphernalia in his hand at the time of the SCU encounter.
A passenger in the vehicle, Stephen Zine, age 25, of Hyannis, was found in possession of four small plastic bags of cocaine and eleven Lorezepam pills.
A second passenger, Aquinnah Lopes-Pocknett, age 23, of Mashpee, was found in possession of five Percocet pills. At the time of his arrest Lopes-Pocknett was wearing a Salem District Court probation department GPS monitoring bracelet. Back in February, Salem State University Police were called at 3:44 in the morning for woman involved in some type of disturbance with her ex-boyfriend. Lopes-Pocknett was placed under arrest by university police and charged with Domestic Assault and Battery, as well as Disturbing the Peace. Lopes-Pocknett was convicted in Salem District Court in May of 2014 for the assault and battery. He was subsequently placed on probation until June of 2016 and ordered to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet…
All three adult males were arrested yesterday at the Cape Cod Mall parking lot.
Kiranbir Singh was charged with Possession of Class B/Cocaine, and Conspiracy to Violate Narcotics Laws.
Stephen Zine was charged with Possession of Class B/Cocaine, Possession of Class E/Lorezepam with Intent to Distribute, and Conspiracy to Violate Narcotics Laws.
Aquinnah Lopes-Pocknett was charged with Possession of Class B/Percocet, and Conspiracy to Violate Narcotics Laws. He was held without bail inside a cell at BPD Headquarters.
All three suspects are expected to be arraigned at Barnstable District Court later this morning, Friday December 5th, 2014.
Also, Mall Security Officers spoke with the three men and “trespassed” them from the mall property.
