HYANNIS – DEVELOPING – Barnstable and area police are out looking for a 41-year-old Hyannis man for assaulting an officer during a traffic stop.
As you will hear in the video, at about 11:13PM last evening (Wednesday), a Barnstable Patrolman was stopping a vehicle in the area of Route 28 and Strawberry Hill Road when things suddenly turned violent.
The suspect reportedly assaulted the police officer before jumping back into the vehicle and fleeing the traffic stop.
The patrolman suffered a cut on his wrist and eventually drove back to police headquarters to have his injury photographed. His injury was said to be minor and the patrolman was soon back on the road looking for his suspect.
Police are looking for Eric Roderick, born in 1974, for his alleged involvement in an Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. As you’ll hear in the video, one local agency mentioned that Roderick may have had warrants for his arrest prior to last night’s traffic stop.
