It remains uncertain whether the patient was flown to Boston; Medflight was initially unavailable due to weather conditions, according to emergency radio transmissions…
The vehicle appeared to be some type of Jeep SUV… but was so mangled during the crash, HN was unable to find out the exact model. Another online source is reporting it was Jeep Liberty…
A state police accident reconstruction team was reportedly on scene investigating for over two and a half hours after the crash…

Initial HN coverage:
SANDWICH – [DEVELOPING] At about 11:20pm last evening, state police and several Sandwich Rescue units rushed to Route 6 eastbound, near Exit 4, for what was described as a serious rollover single car accident, where one person was said to have been ejected…
When HN arrived on scene, rescue workers were attending to the patient on the roadway in the passing lane. All eastbound traffic had come to a complete standstill. An overturned SUV was resting just beyond the patient on the fog line near the median…
Sandwich FD confirms one patient was transported to CCH…
First responders were initially told Medflight could not fly due to weather… (likely because of dense fog conditions in the area at the time of the crash…) It’s uncertain at this time whether Medflight was eventually able to respond after all… emergency radio chatter suggested that may have been a possibility, but that has not been confirmed.
HN will provide more details as they become available. Check back for updates…
