VIDEO: Stubborn motel fire in West Yarmouth…

WEST YARMOUTH – Firefighters needed to overhaul and soak several motel rooms after a stubborn fire extended into the walls and ceilings.
Just after midnight this morning, Yarmouth firefighters responded to the Mayflower Inn at 504 Route 28 for a fire that started in one of the rooms. They were able to quickly knock down any visible flames, but needed to chase the stubborn fire as it crept deeper into the neighboring walls and ceiling.
Hyannis Firefighters were also invited to the scene and immediately went to work on the neighboring motel room…
The pesky fire didn’t go down easy and firefighters needed to enter several rooms to either deal with smoldering extension or residual smoke…
The motel had been closed for the season and nobody was staying in any of the rooms.
Sources believe the fire may have been started by smoldering electrical wiring… but the fire was still being investigated at the time of this report. HN will provide updates as they become available.
The following video highlights the scene shortly after firefighters had knocked down most of visible flames… It shows firefighters tearing into and soaking the walls and ceilings in order to prevent the fire from spreading further.
