VIDEO: Wanted Hyannis man bitten after trying to outrun K-9 unit…
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – Last evening, a Hyannis man was bitten after leading police on a brief vehicle pursuit which turned into a foot chase with a Barnstable K-9 unit… and the K-9 unit got their man – right in the area of the buttocks, as a matter of fact!
Sources tell HN that task force detectives were about to serve a search warrant on a suspect with a history of drug charges and violence. But before they could actually serve the search warrant, their main suspect left the area in a PT Cruiser.
Detectives followed and notified a Barnstable Police K-9 unit of their intention to stop the vehicle and arrest the suspect on additional warrants.
As you will hear in the following radio transmissions between officers and detectives, the suspect made the decision not to stop shortly after turning the PT Cruiser into the Honda dealership parking lot on West Main Street.
When the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and began to flee, a K-9 officer reportedly commanded him to stop, or else he would release his furry partner…
The suspect reportedly didn’t listen and received a nasty dog bite on his backside.
He was transported to CCH, and then reportedly later needed to be taken to a Boston area hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, detectives reportedly served the initial warrant and began searching the suspect’s residence…
This is a developing story and HN will provide updates as they become available.
