INITIAL HN REPORT:
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] According to sources, at around 2:48 a.m. this morning, at 66 Murray Way, an 11-year-old called police stating his father assaulted his mother with a knife. The father then went into a bathroom, according to the young caller.
As officers arrived on scene, the father with a knife was apparently barricaded in a room upstairs. It was an extremely volatile situation, and the first priority was for officers to make sure everyone (including what appeared to be two young boys) were safely outside of the house (they were). In an effort to possibly save lives, Barnstable Police patrol officers teamed up and made entry, guns drawn. After several harrowing minutes, two officers came rushing out requesting rescue to the scene.
At one point, Hyannis FD EMTs brought a stretcher up to the doorway… but a short while later they put the empty stretcher back inside the ambulance and cleared the scene.
The crime scene was taped off. Detectives called in. A mobile command center set up nearby… [DEVELOPING]
