HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – Hyannis Firefighters and Barnstable Police rushed to structure fire on Lafrance Ave at around 4:45 this afternoon. Additional crews from nearby villages and towns also responded to provide assistance on scene, along with Hyannis Fire station coverage.
The first firefighters on scene found a fully involved two-car garage fire attached to a ranch-style residence. It was initial unconfirmed whether or not residents were still inside the home. When HN arrived, a member of the HFD command staff informed that everyone was out of the building.
Responding firefighters were also given an urgent message and tone about there being oxy-acetylene gas stored inside the garage, according to radio transmissions.
Within approximately 20 minutes, crews had the situation well in hand, with the bulk of the fire knocked down, checking for extension and ventilating.
