*** WATCH *** Driver flees after reportedly striking 18-year-old bicyclist… CCH placed on trauma alert…
HYANNIS – A Barnstable Police patrolwoman came across a hit-and-run car vs. bicyclist crash last evening – Monday, August 1, 2022 – around 9:45 p.m.. As you will see in the following HN Video, the injured 18-year-old male bicyclist was down on the side of the road. He was suffering from trauma to his knee… along with various abrasions. He was secured onto a stretcher by EMTs and transported to Cape Cod Hospital in a Hyannis FD ambulance. The patient was conscious and alert while being attended to by first responders… and there was no reported loss of consciousness prior to being placed inside the ambulance. CCH was placed on trauma alert for the incoming emergency patient.
The driver of the vehicle which reportedly struck the young man had fled the scene. Police radioed that the suspect vehicle, described as an SUV, had fled north on Bearses Way toward Route 132. Other descriptive details regarding the suspect vehicle were not immediately available at the time of this report.
The Barnstable Police Department is the lead agency in charge of the investigation.
