*** WATCH *** HOME INVASION SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN WEST YARMOUTH
WEST YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – [DEVELOPING DETAILS] – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at around 10:30 p.m. last evening, a number of Yarmouth Police patrol officers (and at least two state troopers) surrounded a house on Washington Ave. They were looking for suspects in what was described as a “home invasion,” according to sources on scene. The alleged home invasion occurred a short time earlier at an address on Filmore Road, where at least one firearm was allegedly shown.
Once 29 Washington Ave was completely surrounded, officers began calling out individuals one-by-one, with their hands in the air. Two females and one male were taken into custody without incident. A witness was driven by in a cruiser, positively identifying the male as one of the suspects. The words, “One hundred percent, no doubt” could be heard over the radio.
An SUV was towed from 29 Washington Ave to Yarmouth Police Headquarters on a flatbed truck.
A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to the Filmore Road address to photograph the scene of the alleged crime.
A special K-9 unit from the sheriff’s department responded to assist in searching for the alleged firearm.
Yarmouth Police officers sealed off the residence while applying for a search warrant. At approximately 6:15 a.m. this morning, investigators began executing a search warrant at 29 Washington Ave in West Yarmouth.
No further details were available at the time of this report. Police sources on scene had confirmed they were investigating a “home invasion…” and that they were looking for a firearm which was allegedly involved. HN has reached out to the YPD for additional official details and will provide updates as they become available.
UPDATE – 5/11/2025 @ 7AM: A Yarmouth Police sergeant confirmed that an 18-year-old male is currently in custody for “home invasion…” and that the investigation is active and ongoing at this hour. [DEVELOPING]
