INITIAL HN REPORT:
HARWICH – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, shortly after 9:00 a.m. this morning, a man was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital with a “priority one” stab wound to the chest. Medics on scene at the Stone Horse apartments had the option to airlift the patient but decided to go directly to Cape Cod Hospital, advising the emergency room that it was a “trauma code.”
As the man was being removed from the ambulance at CCH in Hyannis, a LUCAS machine was assisting medics with chest compressions. He was apparently in critical condition.
Back at 860 Main Street in Harwich, police officers and detectives had cordoned off the parking area in front of the apartments, including the area around a white pickup truck. State Police detectives from the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office were also on scene. The district attorney also arrived on scene.
One local described the old Stone Horse Motel as having been made into “dormitory” housing for seasonal employees, but now they may be permanent housing for local workers.
This is a very active scene and HN will provide official updates as they become available. The following HN Video contains emergency radio transmissions, footage from outside CCH, along with footage from the crime scene.
