*** WATCH *** PASSENGER CALLS COPS… WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING AFTER BRIEF PURSUIT [UPDATED]
UPDATE – 4/24/2023: AMY COOK, 48, of Merrimack, NH, was officially charged with OUI–DRUGS, OUI-LIQUOR OR .08%, NEGLIGENT OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, SPEEDING AT RATE OF SPEED EXCEEDING POSTED LIMIT, & FAILURE TO STOP FOR POLICE.

INITIAL HN REPORT – 4/23/2023:
HYANNIS / WEST YARMOUTH – A 49-year-old New Hampshire woman was arrested for drunk driving after leading police on a brief pursuit across the town line from Hyannis into Yarmouth last evening.
Shortly after midnight, Barnstable Police received a call from the passenger of a gray Dodge pickup truck traveling eastbound on Route 28 in Hyannis. According to radio transmissions, the passenger told police dispatch that her girlfriend was driving erratically.
Moments later – as can be seen in the following HN Video – a Barnstable Police patrolman can be heard in pursuit after the pickup reportedly failed to stop near the Yarmouth town line on Route 28 eastbound. The brief pursuit ended in a West Yarmouth hotel parking lot, a short distance from the Barnstable/Yarmouth town line.
The driver was placed in handcuffs after attempting field sobriety test. After being given a portable Breathalyzer test, the driver’s estimated blood alcohol content was reportedly double the legal limit, according to sources.
The driver is being charged with Failure to Stop for Police, OUI – Liquor, OUI – (prescription) Drugs, and Speeding. She was transported back to BPD Headquarters for booking and her pickup was towed from the scene.
