*** WATCH *** SANDWICH ROAD RAGE INCIDENT [DEVELOPING]
SANDWICH, Massachusetts – The following video was sent in by a mother who says she was followed and eventually punched by a woman in Sandwich. She says she reported the incident to the Sandwich Police Department and have shown them the video. She believes the woman in the video is the wife of a high-ranking Sandwich firefighter. And because of that, and what she describes as past bad experiences with the Sandwich Police Department, she is very concerned about whether or not this incident will be properly investigated and fairly dealt with.
The cellphone video appears to show a mom driving in a vehicle with her baby twins in their individual car seats in the backseat. It also appears to show the mom and her children being followed by another vehicle. The woman who was apparently following her pulls up beside the mom’s vehicle and the two women begin arguing. The other woman then gets out of her vehicle and approaches the driver side window of the vehicle with the mother and baby twins. The argument continues with both exchanging un-pleasantries. The video ends right after the other woman appears to suddenly reach into the mom’s vehicle. At that point, the mom alleges that the other woman had punched her and broke her glasses. The mom says her lip was injured, and that her sunglasses were apparently thrown and later found on the ground nearby. The video ended right after the alleged punch because the mom was reportedly recording on Snapchat and the recording had ended when her phone was dropped. The woman who allegedly assaulted the mom reportedly then got back in her car and left.
On her Facebook page, the mother of the twins who sent in this alarming video posted the following:
“Edit – This woman is the wife of a Sandwich Fire Department [redacted] and behaved like this. Our kids likely go to school together. What a poor reflection on her family and example of entitlement and privilege. If she treats complete strangers this way I can only imagine how miserable she must be to her family…
How’s your morning?
This old witch clearly popped too many pills this morning. I had to turn the audio off cause fb wouldn’t let me share. This trash bag followed me this morning while I was dropping my sons off at school and daycare on my way to work. I had both of my babies in the car. She thought it was a good idea to hit me and break my sunglasses and took off like a coward.
She lives in Sandwich on [redacted]. Her plate is [redacted], a white Nissan.
She’s lucky my kids were with me and I am so proud of myself for handling this with class and dignity. I could have destroyed her but I would never behave that way in front of my kids.
She followed me for at least 10 minutes laying on her horn and tailing me while trying to illegally pass me multiple times. I recorded some, but not all of it.
Road rage is real and this behavior is disgusting and shameful.
The last thing I wanted to do was call the police. The officers said it’s not arrestable because they did not witness it, but I showed them the footage. They took pictures of the scene and my broken sunglasses on the ground. I was told she will be summonsed to court. It likely would have gone a different way had I stepped out of my vehicle.
I was reluctant to share this but I have no reason to be embarrassed. People that endanger innocent children and put others precious lives at risk on the road should be punished.”

HN NOTE: Road rage is extremely dangerous and can be deadly. According to SimplyInsurance.com:
– 80% of Americans are involved in road rage behavior at least once a year.
– Road rage and aggressive driving crashes are often not covered by insurance policies.
– Approximately 47% of all U.S. drivers, or 95 million individuals, have screamed at a traffic participant.
– To vent their aggravation, 31 percent of drivers, or 91 million people, have honked excessively.
– Over the last decade, deaths caused by road rage have risen by almost 500 percent.
– The majority of road rage-related fatalities are classed as intentional murders of victims.
…………………..
The incident is currently being investigated by the Sandwich Police Department. When police responded to the scene of the alleged assault, the mother says she was not given the name of the woman who allegedly had punched her. Since the alleged punch did not happen in front of a police officer, it is considered to be a “simple assault” and not arrestable on the spot. But the mom is entitled to take out her own charges and she needs the name in order to file a criminal complaint in Barnstable District Court. She believes she knows the woman’s name but would like the police to confirm that information.
HN will update this story as more details become available. [DEVELOPING]
