INITIAL HN VIDEO & REPORT:
HARWICH, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, at 10:48 p.m. last evening, police and firefighters responded to Queen Anne Road near Rebecca Road for a single vehicle crash with multiple injuries. According to sources, the vehicle was apparently traveling west on Queen Anne Road when it left the roadway, crashed through guard railing, and rolled over about 40 to 50 yards into the area of the power lines. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when the first police and firefighters arrived on scene. There were a total of five individuals injured, and ambulances and emergency apparatus needed to respond from surrounding towns to provide mutual aid. One of the patients was described as a female, approximately age 15, suffering a serious leg wound (described as a partial amputation), in priority one condition. She was eventually airlifted to Mass. General Hospital in Boston, according to radio transmissions. A second female was described as being approximately 15 to 17 years old. She suffered serious multi-system trauma and was also flown to Mass. General, according to radio transmissions. Three other patients were transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Their ages and current conditions were unknown at the time of this report.
While some firefighters were responding to Cape Cod Tech in order to secure a landing zone, others were battling a fully involved vehicle fire that was catching onto nearby trees and vegetation. The vehicle was eventually extinguished, leaving a wake of car parts and charred debris….
Harwich Police needed to completely close down Queen Anne Road for a period of time. At least one accident reconstruction expert responded to investigate the scene. A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded for photographs. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Harwich Police and accident recon..
