*** WATCH *** UNLICENSED DRIVER WAS DRUNK WHEN HE FAILED TO PULL OVER, COPS SAY
HYANNIS – An unlicensed driver was drunk when he failed to pull over for a Barnstable Police Patrolman early Sunday morning, cops say.
Shortly before 2:00 a.m. this morning, Patrolman Jian Barcelo reportedly observed a red Ford sedan committing “multiple” traffic violations. As you will hear in the following HN Video, Officer Barcelo radioed dispatch, informing them he was attempting to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Pitchers Way and Bearses Way. Seconds later, Officer Barcelo announced the vehicle was failing to stop and pull over for him. There was brief pursuit which ended on Phinney’s Lane in front of Barnstable Police Headquarters. Several BPD squad cars, including a Massachusetts State Trooper, quickly arrived to assist.
As you will see in the footage, Jose Pino, 25, of Hyannis was taken into custody just prior to HN arriving on scene. Shortly prior to finally stopping for police, Pino was allegedly observed running a stop sign, as well as running a red light.
Pino was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop for Police, Operating Under the Influence, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Unlicensed, and several other traffic offenses, including Marked Lanes Violation. Pino was transported across the street to BPD Headquarters for booking.
No officers or members of the general public were hurt during this morning’s pursuit. The following HN Video highlights this morning’s arrest…
