*** WATCH *** First responders find and extricate trapped crash victim, unsure of where she was….
WEST BARNSTABLE – It’s a good thing police were able to ‘ping’ a trapped woman’s cellphone early this morning.
At around 12:30 a.m., police received a call from a crash victim saying was trapped inside her vehicle and unsure of where she was.
When Barnstable Police and West Barnstable Firefighters arrived on scene, they located a vehicle crashed into some very dense vegetation in the area of 590 Main Street (Route 6A).
As you will see in the following HN Video, firefighters successfully were able to extricate the driver/sole occupant. The older woman was carried up an embankment and eventually transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The crash scene happened in an area that very likely would have went unnoticed if it were not for technology that enables first responders to locate cellphones.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
