UPDATE – 4:30am – Work crews still in the roadway, West Main Street completely closed down in between Straightway and Suomi Road… road closure and delay are expected to last well into the morning commute…
HYANNIS – At about 12:40am, Barnstable Police and Hyannis FD responded to a crash on West Main Street where an SUV took down a pole, transformer, and live wires…
The driver escaped serious injury, but was transported to CCH for evaluation as a precaution…
Power outages appear to be confined to the immediate area…
As of 3:00am, repair crews were still on location and the segment of West Main Street between Straightway and Suomi Road was completely closed down…
Repairs are expected to last another three hours or more…
It’s estimated there will be a road closure and delays into the early morning commute, possibly longer…
If possible, avoid driving in that area…

Shortly after the above West Main Street crash, police responded to another single truck accident on Main Street in Osterville, just east of Robbins Street...
Police located a truck that collided with a tree, but no driver...
Officers are currently attempting to track down the vehicle's registered owner.
The accident remains under investigation by the Barnstable Police.
